a new camera

I got a new digital camera. It's an HP R717 which is small but powerful. The pictures of the old red and black scooter below are the first ones taken with it.

I still need to take a few shots of my Honda Passport (see Sept 15 post, below). I'll get them posted in a day or two. Right now some of the bodywork is off and we are trying to get it tuned up and running, but when that is done, you'll see it here.

59-year-old scooter

I just found another "barn fresh" Cushman scooter. This one actually came from a basement. It is a 1946 or '47 Cushman with a few parts that date from about 1950. The tublar body is not correct. It probably came from a model 64 Cushman Super which was made about 1950 or maybe as late as 1954. The rest of it is a pencil-spring, fat tire, Road King(model 54) or possibly a Civilian Airborne (model 53A). The fat tires have me leaning toward the Airborne.

I average about one scooter find a year, so finding two in the same month is rather exciting.

Found another nice scooter...

I have been looking for a Honda Passport for several years. I finally found one down near Manchester, Tennessee. It is an 82 model with a 70 cc engine, three speeds, 12 volt system, electric start, and a clogged up fuel system. Well, you can't have everything. I'm getting good at unclogging fuel systems, because any scooter that has been sitting for while will be pretty badly gummed up.

For some reason, I had it in my mind that the Passport was a two cycle, but it's four cycle with an overhead cam. I have never heard a negative comment about a Passport, so I am looking forward to getting it in riding condition.

No pictures yet. I'm in the process of buying a new digital camera.
